After he spoke at a jobs summit in Orlando, Fla., Miami coach Mark Richt was asked about Art Briles losing his job at Baylor. "I don't know why but I read a lot about the Penn State case," Richt said. "It caught my interest, and obviously it was very important to college football at the time. But this one in particular, I've not read one sentence other than a headline all along. You knew something was cooking; you didn't know what. I don't have any details of it, but I just know it's a sad time for a lot of people."

Three members of Baylor's 2016 top-20 recruiting class that signed in February said they have not been officially notified one way or the other by the school if they will be released from their letters-of-intent. The signees asked not to be identified at this point said they have already been reaching out to other schools to gauge their interest. Four Power 5 recruiters told me Thursday they expect most of the Bears' 2016 class to end up looking at other schools with Art Briles' firing.

Kellen Mond, the nation's No. 2 dual-threat quarterback and Baylor's top commitment, said he's going to have an in-depth conversation with his parents about his status. Even though Mond has been committed to Baylor since last June, he has been looking at other schools like Ohio State and Auburn. "I'm not sure yet how it will affect my recruitment," said Mond, who attends Bradenton (Florida) IMG Academy but is originally from San Antonio. "I definitely committed there because of Art Briles, but I won't know or do anything until I talk to my parents more in depth."

Ray Rice spoke to the Ravens rookies after Wednesday's practice. In a statement, the Ravens said: "[Rice] delivered an important message that included his story, both the good and the bad. He clearly has the attention of our rookies." The Ravens abruptly released Rice in 2013 after a video surfaced showing him striking his then-fiancée.

It is Jordan's second selection to the All-NBA squad (Third Team, 2014-15) and he becomes just the third second-round draftee to make an All-NBA First Team. This is Paul's sixth selection to the All-NBA roster and third Second Team appearance.

Anthony Davis did not receive enough votes to make any of the three All-NBA teams, meaning the maximum extension he signed last offseason will be worth only 25% of the league salary cap and not the 30% he would have made, as stipulated by the CBA's "Rose Rule." Davis will leave around $25 million over the length of the contract, and give the Pelicans about $4.3 million extra in cap space this summer to utilize.
