Kiper scouting report: Jared Goff

Get to know the newest Ram, No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff. Mel Kiper Jr. offers his analysis on the former Cal quarterback's game.

Pocket mobility and vision. Those are two keys to Jared Goff's game. Add in the quick release and the high-level football IQ. There should be an expected transition process with Goff moving into the Rams' pro-style offense, but this club needed a major boost at the position. Run the ball, play defense under Gregg Williams and reduce the stress on Goff as a rookie.

Phil Sheridan ESPN Staff Writer

The Rams do indeed select Cal's Jared Goff at No. 1. Eagles are on the clock. They didn't trade five picks for anything but a QB. Believe that Carson Wentz is about to hear his name called.

Nick Wagoner ESPN Staff Writer

No surprise, the Los Angeles Rams selected Cal quarterback Jared Goff with the first pick in the 2016 NFL draft. A few things the Rams really like about Goff: his ability to maneuver in the pocket, his ability to take hits and continue to produce under pressure and how he takes care of the ball (especially in the red zone).

In 1999, we pretty much knew Cleveland was taking Tim Couch at No. 1 and that the Eagles would take Donovan McNabb. Not quite as certain this year.

The Bears are prepared in the event multiple trades occur before they pick at No. 11. "We have more than 11 names right now....that we're prepared to go with," Bears GM Ryan Pace said.

Phil Sheridan ESPN Staff Writer

There shouldn't be any shocks for the Eagles in tonight's draft. The shocks came when they traded from 13 to 8 and 8 to 2 in the first round.

Todd McShay ESPN Senior Writer

I think Myles Jack, once thought to be a potential top-five pick, goes between picks No. 12 and 17 due to concerns over his knee injury.

Jeff Dickerson ESPN Staff Writer

Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott received a huge ovation from the crowd in Chicago. Will the Bears draft Elliott if he drops to No. 11? "I think if you're taking a running back that high, he better have special traits," Bears GM Ryan Pace said. "You better feel that he's going to be a special player. And if he does, then it's worth making that pick."

Nick Wagoner ESPN Staff Writer

The Los Angeles Rams are about 10 minutes from being officially on the clock. Most signs still pointing to them selecting Cal quarterback Jared Goff over North Dakota State's Carson Wentz. Either way, it will be the second time in seven years the Rams have taken a quarterback with the first overall pick.

Where Arizona Cardinals GM Steve Keim and head coach Bruce Arians will discuss the 29th pick after making the selection in about 5 hours...if they don't trade the pick.

The Dolphins' last five first-round picks were WR DeVante Parker (2015 and pictured), RT Ja'Waun James (2014), DE Dion Jordan (2013), QB Ryan Tannehill (2012) and C Mike Pouncey (2011). They need a building block in tonight's NFL draft at No. 13.

Todd McShay ESPN Senior Writer

The most likely teams to trade down tonight from what I'm hearing? Baltimore (No. 6) and Cleveland (No. 8).
