The Miami Heat issue statement moments ago announcing that Chris Bosh will not play in the playoffs, but that the sides will continue to work together to get him back on the court in the future. Bosh attended practice today in Toronto and watched film with coaches and Miami's younger players. Bosh has repeatedly declined to comment on his status. He has been sidelined with a medical condition since February. Bosh also missed the second half of last season to treat a blood clot that traveled to his lungs.

Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez is headed to the 15-day DL with a hamstring strain. A-Rod, 40, is hitting .203 with five homers and 12 RBIs. He hurt the hamstring running to first base on Tuesday. In his place, the Yankees are calling up reliever James Pazos. Rodriguez is in the second to last season of his 10-year, $275 million contract. He is being paid $21 million this year and next.

After throwing 5.2 shutout innings on Wednesday against the Pirates his ERA is now 1.58. He artfully escaped a bases loaded no outs jam in the fourth and had another highlight reel play in the field throwing his entire glove with the ball in it to first base. He got the out.
