Texans defensive end JJ Watt went to punter Shane Lechler's house for Thanksgiving last year. This year Lechler's is spending Thanksgiving with his in-laws, so Watt is on his own. "It's probably best," said Watt, who generally sticks to a strict diet. "... I'll stick to my diet properly and we'll be fine. I won't nap for nine hours straight after I eat."

Jets C Nick Mangold, who needed 7 stitches for a deep gash on his right hand, took a limited number of snaps today in practice. "That was a positive," OC Chan Gailey said. "He didn't look any worse for the wear. I don't know if that's exactly the bandage -- or whatever you want to call it -- that he'll use in the game. But what he had on today allowed him to go out there and be fairly effective."

Washington's Petersen gets extension

Washington coach Chris Petersen has been extended two years, through the 2020 season, the school announced today. Petersen has gone 13-12 with the Huskies since signing a five-year deal to succeed Steve Sarkisian prior to the 2014 season.
