Infield defense has been a major shortcoming for the St. Louis Cardinals this season. Rookie shortstop Aledmys Diaz pulled Matt Adams off the bag with a bad throw in the third inning against Milwaukee. It was the Cardinals' major-league high 45th error and Diaz's 12th, also the most in the majors. It forced Carlos Martinez to face Jonathan Lucroy with two runners on. He was able to pitch around it by striking Lucroy out with a curveball, but it cost him seven extra-high stress pitches.

The Yankees have recalled utilityman Rob Refsnyder to replace the injured Dustin Ackley. Ackley dislocated his right shoulder Sunday. Catcher Austin Romine and third baseman Chase Headley will backup Mark Teixeira. Teixeira played Sunday for the first time since receiving cortisone shots for a stiff neck that cost him four games. Meanwhile, the Yankees reinstated struggling starter Luis Severino from the DL and sent him to Triple-A Scranton. Lakers co-owner Jeanie Buss was our guest, in studio, on ESPN radio this morning. I asked if her fiancé, and Knicks president, Phil Jackson would ever join her back in LA. "No," Buss said, "To visit, yes..but in terms of basketball, he's committed to New York for many years. He's building something there. He has a mission, he's on that journey to get the team back to where he believes it can be and it will be. He's a former Knick...he loves New York, he loves the fans, he wants to make them proud. In terms of the Lakers, we have a front office. They're putting together a team...they have a vision. I'm excited to see what the future holds for us. So, to answer your question....no, there's no plans for Phil to come back here."
