Emma Coburn and the controlled chaos of the water jump

Instead of barriers that tip over, the steeplechase contains four immovable barriers and a 30-inch wall that is set in front of a 10-foot-long pool of water. Sound crazy? U.S. Olympic hopeful Emma Coburn shows how it's done.

One sneaky team to watch in Pau Gasol free agency: Golden State Warriors. If they miss on KD, been told they are very interested. Gasol took less to sign with Bulls. He isn't keen on doing so again, but market + contender status matters to him.

Brandon Moss's solo home run in the fourth inning Thursday night very nearly cleared the right-field stands and left Busch Stadium. According to the Cardinals, the blast went 477 feet and was the longest in the 10-year-old stadium's history, surpassing a Matt Holliday home run by seven feet. Statcast was a bit more conservative, calling it 454 feet, but it was impressive nonetheless, a soaring drive that left Moss' bat traveling 112 mph.

The Cubs lead the Mets 3-0 behind Kris Bryant's 22nd HR which ties him for the league lead. It's his 11th in June, the most in a month for a Cub since June of 2007 when Alfonso Soriano hit 11. He's also the first Cub since Derrek Lee in 2005 to hit 22 before July 1. (ESPN Stats and Info) John Lackey has pitched five scoreless innings so far and Javy Baez has a HR as well.

After sweeping the Mets, the Nationals are showing no let-down against the lowly Reds. Danny Espinosa just got a curtain-call after hitting a third-inning grand slam that put the Nats up 8-1. It's the second salami of Espinosa's career, and the first since 9/6/10, when he hit one in his very first game at Nats Park.

At a US Olympic Swim Trials that has yet to see a world record, Kevin Cordes put a charge into CenturyLink Center Thursday night when he turned for the final 50 of the 200 breaststroke more than a second ahead of world record pace. But in the final 50, Cordes was caught by Josh Prenot, whose final time of 2:07.17 was not only nearly a second faster than Cordes (2:08.08) but the fastest time in the world this year and just .10 off the four-year-old world record. Prenot's time made him the second-fastest performer all-time in the event. Cordes finished second. They both will compete in Rio in August.
