The team and Walton have reached an agreement on a multi-year contract for the 36-year-old to become the next head coach of the team. He'll begin his duties at the end of the Warriors' season.

"He's one of the brightest young coaching minds in the game and we feel fortunate that he'll be leading the on-court future of our team." Walton played for the Lakers, winning championships in 2009 and 2010.
