The Cardinals had a rough trip to New York after Sunday Night Baseball. Their charter had mechanical issues so they had to call in another plane. Because of thunderstorms in St. Louis, the second plane couldn't land for quite a while to pick them up. Eventually, they boarded at around 3:15 a.m., endured wild turbulence and got to New York at 6:45 a.m. They got caught in rush-hour New York traffic, reaching their hotel after 8 a.m. Oh, and those thunderstorms are expected to reach Citi Field at about 6 p.m. ET tonight. So, there's that.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., on his weekly The Dale Jr. Download, said "I miss the people more than the driving" while sitting out with concussion-type symptoms such as balance issues and nausea. He said he has been working on the physical and mental exercises for 2-2.5 hours a day. "This process is going to take a little bit longer. ... With my history, I don't need to get cute (in returning)," said Earnhardt, who indicated he will see doctors soon to make a determination about Watkins Glen next week. He said it must have been a challenge for Jeff Gordon because of the changes to the cars since Gordon last drove them. On Kyle Busch's win: "You have to hand it to Gibbs. Texans left tackle Duane Brown and defensive end JJ Watt will both begin training camp on the active/physically unable to perform list. They still count against the roster at this point and this has no bearing on their availability for the season, yet. The active/PUP list simply gives the Texans the option to have the players start the season on PUP if necessary. If that happens, they would miss at least six games, but the team has made no such commitment yet.
