Yankees manager Joe Girardi says he is going to "do something different" in his use of Alex Rodriguez, meaning A-Rod won't play against a lot of righties in the near term. Rodriguez had been the regular DH, but his OPS against rightiesis just .584, while vs. lefties it is .837. A-Rod said, "You havent' heard the last of me." A-Rod has been benched for the second straight game. He will start against a lefty on Tuesday, but after that it is uncertain how much he will play.

Perhaps the story of the day, Britain's Marcus Willis, ranked No. 772, beat Ricardas Berankis. Willis had to win six matches just to get to the main draw. Willis, who will take home at least $68k with the win (he earned only $356 in 2016 previously), explained his success: "The end of last year, I tore my hamstring again after [playing in] America. Start of this year I was in a really bad place, didn't want to get out of bed. Couldn't find the motivation to do anything really. I was very close to packing it in. I needed to get some money behind me. "But I sorted my head out. I was in a bad place and really was at a low point. Time helped and I met a girl and since then it has been very good and my head has been right."
