Torry's Take: We were on

ST. LOUIS -- The Miami Dolphins have a tough defense. Honestly, they're a great defense. We just came out completely on our game -- on all levels.

Torry Holt's 111 yards receiving helped move the Rams to 3-0.

The offensive line made it click for us. They did a great job of keeping Miami's front four off of Kurt Warner, giving him time to hit his receivers upfield. It was just a great effort on everyone's part: offense, defense and special teams.

We feel like if we can keep up that effort and intensity, we can win a lot of ball games this year.

A key was that we didn't have as many penalties this week, and we didn't have any turnovers. We caused turnovers against the Dolphins, which allowed us to get in scoring position and put some points on the board.

But the thing that was so huge was our focus level. Everyone was extremely focused. Even when we had the big lead, we were still concentrating on finishing our job and finishing off the Dolphins.

Marshall Faulk had a big day for us, as usual. When people ask me about Marshall I just laugh, because so many great things come to mind as a football player. First, he's a great running back. No one hits holes and makes cuts like Marshall. He picks up blitzes and knows how to block. He runs great routes and uses his hands to catch the ball. You can send him on pass routes out of the backfield or split him out wide. That's why he's the MVP.

He works extremely hard during the week and prepares himself for Sundays. That's why he gets paid the money he does, and it's why we consider him to be the best player in the game. Our thing is to try and keep Marshall as healthy as possible.

He causes so much confusion for the other team, and that allows us, as outside receivers, to do our thing, get open and make plays.

The first two games -- playing on the road in a hostile environment -- was tough. To come home and enjoy our facility was great. It made us feel very comfortable. And to play against a 2-0 team like the Dolphins made it that much better. We had that much more energy and motivation to play well in front of our fans, who were as supportive as ever.

Up next we get the Detroit Lions on Monday night (ABC, 9 p.m. ET). Even though they haven't won a game, they will come out and play like a contending team, I promise that. They feel like they can turn their whole season around by beating the St. Louis Rams. We'll get a lot of energy from them, and we'll be up to play them for sure. We know we're going to get their best for four straight quarters.

The last time we went to the Silverdome was two years ago and the Lions came down and scored on us late in the game thanks to a big fourth down completion to Germane Crowell. I don't see that happening again. After holding Miami to 10 points, our defense has a lot of confidence, which they should.

Playing on Monday Night Football, it's easy to get up and get motivated, because the whole world is watching. You can get overexcited because of the buildup, but this is our type of game. We love playing in front of large crowds and a great audience. People are calling us "The Greatest Show on Earth," and hopefully we can give them a great show.

Surprise of the Week:
I was upset that my old team -- North Carolina State -- didn't come up big against North Carolina. They didn't play with as much intensity as I thought they would. Late in the fourth, the Wolfpack tried to come back, but UNC's lead was too much.

Talking to my brother Terrence, I know he was upset with the loss, but I told him they just have to forget about that game and move in. Take nothing away from Carolina, though. Coach John Bunting has done a great job of keeping those guys up. They had a great win against Florida State and they seem to have it going now.

I wish Coach Chuck Amato well at State and hopefully we can pick it up the rest of the season.

Game ball -- Week 3:
Kurt Warner. Sorry, but I have to be partial here. He was on point. His decision-making, his passing, everything he did on Sunday was perfect. Kurt didn't make any mistakes.

Game of the Week:
The game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos was exciting. Baltimore showed its championship toughness.

I think the Rams against the Ravens would be an interesting contest. They have the best defense in the NFL. It'd be a challenge moving the ball on those guys, but I think we'd be up to it.

Who knows? We might see them in the Super Bowl. But we have to take care of our business, and they have to take care of theirs before we start thinking about the Big Game.
