KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chiefs
You're busy gathering quotes on a tight deadline, but it's impossible not to notice the glass-encased locker that forever belongs to Derrick Thomas.
Smack in the middle of the Chiefs' locker room, DT's locker holds that familiar game-worn 58 jersey. It's also surrounded by pairs of cleats and sneakers, a pitching wedge, shoulder pads, tons of folded tees, a photo of him and Hank Williams Jr. and a classy statue in his honor.
It is the constant reminder of the former Chiefs' star, who tragically died last February after complications from a car crash. Somewhere, hopefully, he was smiling tonight at the celebration taking place around him.
