Notes from the 1978 MNF season:
The NFL changed its schedule from 14 games to 16, and Monday Night Football would broadcast each week of the season, as opposed to having one week open.
Houston Oilers RB Earl Campbell made his MNF debut in 1978, putting together one of the best seasons in the show's history, averaging 144 yards per game in his two appearances, and scoring seven TDs.
