Notes from the 1995 MNF season:
1995 was another record-breaking season on the program, with six Monday Night records being set or tied, and four league marks being set or tied.
Dallas' 35-0 win over the Giants in Week 1 was the third opening night shutout in MNF history and first since 1978. Emmitt Smith scored four touchdowns in the game, en route to a league-record total of 25 for the season.
Dan Marino passed Fran Tarkenton as the NFL's all-time leader in attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns. Two of the records were set on MNF: the attempts record of 6,467 (Dec. 11 vs. Kansas City); and tied the record with his 341st career TD pass, a 4-yarder to O.J. McDuffie (Nov. 20 at San Francisco).
Jerry Rice became the league's all-time leader in receptions and receiving yardage.
Two new teams, the Carolina Panthers (NFC West), and the Jacksonville Jaguars (AFC Central), joined the league, bumping the total to 30 teams.
The Rams franchise moved from Los Angeles to St. Louis, and the Raiders returned to Oakland from Los Angeles, leaving L.A., the No. 2 media market in the United States, without a professional football team.
