At WX 2011, Kelly shocked women's superpipe snowboarding when she became the first woman to land a 1080 in competition. She's on an amazing streak entering WX Tignes, winning the overall TTR World Tour (halfpipe) and Burton Global Open Series). She had won 13 straight events (including Winter X 2011 and 2012 and Winter X Tignes 2011), but finished 2nd at the Burton US Open (to Elena Hight). She received 2011 ESPY nominations for Best Female Action Sports Athlete and Female Athlete of the Year. One of the most decorated women in action sports, the Vermont native has 9 WX SuperPipe medals, more than any other woman. She entered 2012 saying she felt stronger, fitter and happier than ever. Indeed. Her Kelly Clark Foundation awarded double the amount of scholarships (14) for the 2011-12 season over the previous year.
