X Games 17 is an unexpected second chance for Wildcard invite Conley, who earned an invitation to XG 2008 but was forced to withdraw after he and his co-driver wife were both seriously injured in a crash at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb weeks before. They crashed hard just two corners after the start and both broke their backs. They were in the audience, back-braces and all, at XG 2008, but unable to compete. Conley wasn't sure he'd ever get the chance again.
