It's hard not to root for Elias. As a promising young ripper moving up the world ranks in the mid 2000s, he began to suffer from severe lung inflammation that kept him off his snowboard for more than a year. The 22-year-old worked his way back and began to return, finishing the 2009/10 season as No. 38 on the World TTR list. He kicked off this season with a 3rd place at the Oakley Air & Style with a huge backside double cork 1080. He wants to up that to a 1260 to compete at his first WX Big Air.
