Making his first WX appearance, Butler competes regularly on a Canadian National series that includes regulars such as Butler's '09-'10 teammate and WX SnoCross vet Iain Hayden and '04 Winter X gold medalist Michael Island. In '09 and '10 Butler swept both Pro-class points championships on the Canadian National series. During those seasons, he had a combined 25 podiums, including 16 wins.
