Aspen local Torin exploded onto the scene in 2011, becoming the youngest WX medalist in history when he earned silver in SuperPipe (15 yrs, 2 months). It was Torin's consistent amplitude and alley-oop double flatspin 900 Japan grab on the last hit that won the judges over. Now a high school sophomore, Yater-Wallace added bronze at Winter X 2012, proving he is not a fluke. Torin is the grandson of Renny Yater, one of the first commercial surfboard builders of the 1950s, who started Yater Surfboards in Santa Barbra. No longer an up-and-comer, Torin is a favorite for gold at Winter X Tignes.
