Torah has earned her position as one of the elite women in halfpipe snowboarding, having won gold at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, the 2010 ESPY for Best Female Action Sports Athlete and two WX SuperPipe titles ('07, '09). When she arrived at WX 2012, however, she hadn't competed in nearly two years, her last comp being Winter X Europe in 2010. In her time off -- that she says was planned -- she "explored the other sides of snowboarding," namely riding powder in the backcountry. She says she hasn't lost the tricks that earned her medals in the past, including her switch backside 720, and though there were flashes of her old self at WX 2012, she appeared rusty, finishing 7th.
