Ryo Aono was a surprise bronze medalist at WX 2012 (he also has 2008 SuperPipe silver), and he'll be making his first WXT appearance. The Japanese rider is consistently at the top of the FIS World Cup events, #1 in 2007 & 2009, and he finished 2nd on the tour in 2011. He didn't attend WX in 2009, instead choosing to compete and win at the FIS World Snowboard Championships. He has a frontside double cork 1080 and frontside 1260 and plenty of amplitude in his run. He's a student at Matsuyama University.
