Eastern BikesEastern's Josh Perry

Eastern Bikes team rider Josh Perry has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. According to Josh's doctors, the tumor is benign and not cancerous, but Josh will undergo surgery to have the tumor removed before it grows any bigger. In a statement released on the Eastern Bikes site today, Eastern team manager Leigh Ramsdell said, "The good news is that the tumor is not scattered, so removing it shouldn't be too difficult. Josh is currently seeing neurologists and taking steps to prepare for surgery."

Originally from Cape Cod, Mass, Perry made the move to Greenville, NC two years ago for the riding scene. After receiving news about the tumor, the Athlete Recovery Fund stepped in to pay for flights for Josh's parents to be with him. Perry had this to say about the impending surgery: "Thanks to everyone for the support and good wishes. I'll definitely be going crazy while off my bike and looking forward to riding with everyone again!"

According to Eastern, Perry's head had been hurting for a few weeks and his vision was blurred. When he went to the doctor and was examined, a tumor was found in his head. To offer Josh your support, hit up the Eastern Bikes site and leave him some positive thoughts.

From all of at ESPN BMX, our sincere wishes for a speedy recovery go out to you Josh. And we'll miss seeing your riding at JoMoPro this coming weekend. Be well.
