The Rally-America National Championships continues into the last weekend of February, with the 100 Acre Wood Rally, held in Salem, Missouri on Feb. 25-26. And the reason you're reading about this in the BMX blog is because BMX legend Dave Mirra is planning to race the event, which is the second race of the Rally-America Championships Series.

Named after the imaginary home of Winnie the Pooh, the 100 Acre Wood Rally is set in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in Missouri, and because of Missouri's questionable February weather, the race, which consists of a fast, tight and twisty course, can sometimes experience rain, sleet, hail and snow.

Looking to improve on his standing (second overall) at January's Sno*Drift, Dave Mirra and Subaru Rally Team USA are in a good position to move to the top of the Championship standings.

Mirra, 36, is currently ranked second in Rally America's 2011 overall standings. And according to Rally Buzz, "Mirra has exhibited remarkable improvement in his fourth year of rallying and is within striking distance of nabbing his first overall event win."

Mirra will be racing a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STi with co-driver Marshall Clarke this weekend.

I know Rally isn't everyone's cup of tea in the BMX world, but Dave Mirra has done a heck of a lot to get BMX into the public discourse, and I can't really knock it when a BMX legend decides to try something new, and does it extremely well. There also aren't too many times when I get to mention Dave Mirra, Winnie the Pooh and Subaru Imprezas in the same blog, so there.

Check back later in the weekend for Mirra's progress.
