I'm digging this concept: FBM posted up an awesome edit of Joel Barnett and friends from East Shore skatepark in Lansing, NY. Now there's nothing unusual about a skatepark session Web edit, but FBM posted two versions, each with different songs: one metal, and one, for lack of a better description, melodic screamo. I prefer the metal version, but if you're not feeling it, you can check out the alternate version on the FBM site, along with updated product photos of the new Warlord frame, 6-pack sprocket, Crown Royal V2 stem, Chanticleer bar ends and See Be Four kays.
A short while back we previewed the Level Vibes jam here on ESPN, so I thought we'd do a follow-up piece to see how things went down this had many old-school features of a traditional freestyle comp (held inside a sports hall with a wooden floor, small PA, no big sponsors with logos on rolling banners at the side of an arena -- just like the old school comps of the '80s) but was brought bang up to date by a dedicated following of new riders and old dudes alike. Whoever thought flatland comps had died a death and that flatland itself is on its knees obviously didn't think about James White's Level Vibes Jam. We spoke with Effraim Catlow of Flat Matters about how the day unfolded.

Here's some par for the course. Every summer, event organizers scramble for dates that don't clash with other major BMX events. And almost every year, there's some reorganizing that goes down as a result. The first of which is the BMX Masters. Originally scheduled for July 9-11, the date has now been moved back a week to July 16-18, 2010. Hopefully, no one has booked their tickets yet. Here's the Masters spiel yet again:

If you follow basketball at all, you might have heard about this already. If not, listen up. This past Friday night, the L.A. Lakers were down by two to the Miami Heat with only 3.2 seconds to go in the game, when the Lakers' Kobe Bryant got his hands on the ball. From 27-feet away, he shot, miraculously scoring the winning point for the Lakers at the buzzer.

Basketball, soccer, track and BMX! They say a photo is worth a thousand words but I think this sums it up pretty well in five. Doesn't this seem portray the progression of sports and where everybody's wanting to do these days? Who doesn't want to ride BMX? This is another great shot courtesy of Keith Romanowski, so check it by clicking on it and read about the shot below.
Note: In more Russell Barone news, he will be bumped up to the pro team on Cult BMX. You can check that out here.
"In a few weeks Russ Barone is heading to California to film for a bit and then right after that he is going to Jamaica for a little over a month. While there, he is going to help Shawn Garrett setup his new house. This is going to be no ordinary house, its located deep in the jungle off the grid. Here Russ does a rail hop in Brooklyn, NY. Although while in Jamaica the only thing he'll be bunny hopping over is snakes and bamboo sticks. On a side note, I will be meeting up with the two of them later on in January. I have stayed in plenty of hotels before, but I never stayed in the middle of the jungle before and neither has Russ. We really have no idea what to expect." -Keith Romanowski
Disclaimer: You probably want to be over 30 years of age to read the following blog.
Wait. No. I take that back. If you like riding BMX and are of any age, pay attention. Consider it your history lesson for the day if you don't know what I'm talking about.
