Bestwick at XG 15. This photo was too good to only use once.
Big surprise yet again: Jamie Bestwick took the win in vert at the Dew Tour Wendy's Invitational from Portland, OR last night. On his path to becoming the BMX Vert Dew Cup champion for the fifth consecutive year, Bestwick earned a first-place score of 93.75 with a run that included an alley oop downside tailwhip. Gilroy, Calif.-native Chad Kagy pulled a flair double whip as part of his second-place finish that earned a 92.00. And now back on the vert ramp following recent ankle surgery, Steve McCann of Australia finished in third with a score of 90.25.
Here's the good word from Jamie: "I felt a lot of pressure going into this," said Bestwick. "I'm glad I didn't have to rely on my second run because the first was good enough. I'm stoked I could pull it out."
Here's the full results. We'll have park up later on today.
