Although it seems I've met just about everyone in BMX these days, there's still a ton of riders out there that I've never had the chance to shoot photos with, let alone even chat with. KC Badger is one of those riders and for the first time, while hanging out at Windell's Camp in Oregon last month, I had the pleasure to finally meet him. I was intrigued by how laid back, modest and soft spoken he was. For the few direct words we did exchange, he seemed like a really cool dude. To get to know him more and to give those of you who don't know him, I felt some quick fire questions were in order.
Hello my name is: Kelley Condie Badger Jr.
A.K.A.: KC
What a lot of people don't know about me is: I have a college degree in art and I work at a skateshop in the mall, the same job I had before I went to college, ha-ha.
Last week I was: On a crazy northwest adventure with Seth Holton and Sandy Carson. Crazy downhill mountain biking, hiking mountains and rivers, riding concrete bowls, sleeping in the woods in amazing cabins, livin' life!
Right now I am: Sitting in a coffee shop in Ballard, WA with my lady stealing their Internet.
Something you'll never see me wearing is: Tall tees to my knees, no ghetto ghost for me.
My favorite BMX rider is: I have to pick just one? Impossible, to watch ride... Aitken, Chase, Bohan, Doyle, Foster, Sexton, Baker, Burns, Forte's. To ride with, Baker, Seth Holton, Jim Bauer, Sam Buros and the whole Kink team.
My dream in life would be: If you were to ask me this when I was 16, I'd be living it right now. My dream for the future now is to be able to keep riding my bike, creating art, and traveling, but without stressing out about life, money and other grown up stuff. Ha-ha.
The worst night I have ever had was: The night my father passed away.
The best day I ever had was: I've had so many "best days of my life" each day is amazing, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
If I could do any one trick on a bike it would be: I think it would be hilarious if I some how learned some wild circus trick out of the blue...maybe that wild 720 backflip crazy thing that Dhers does now?!? Ha-ha, I have no clue. I'm pretty content just doing kick outs and turndowns.
Seth Holton
I think Dew Tour and contests are: Cool to go see old friends I don't ever get to see anymore, and to watch people ride bikes on a completely different level. I find myself saying, "This is not the same sport I'm in" a lot.
Rider owned companies are: What makes BMX cool, for both the riders and the community.
Some things I'd like to accomplish this year would be: Keep exploring the world I live in, create some art, do some kick outs, turndowns, x-ups, make some friends and have a good time along the way.
The last time I said, "This is the last time," was: I try not to say this is the last time. Cause anytime you do say that, you're bound to do it again, whether you want to or not.
If I never rode BMX I would: Have a lot less friends and memories, and probably be a lot more "normal."
I think people are: All the same.
The best road trip I was on involved: Good friends, the rest is trivial.
If I could change one thing it would be: The need for money. I wish everyone could just live and have a good time without having to stress out about the need to work to buy, rent, and survive. Maybe that's just my stress though. Ha-ha.
I'd like to finish this by saying: If you've made it this far into the questionnaire, thanks for reading! Cheers!
