The modern-day king of vert

Hot off the heels of his unprecedented fourth consecutive X Games gold medal and a win at the Dew Tour Chicago Open, Jamie Bestwick is enjoying yet another unstoppable competition season atop the vert ramp on his BMX bike. Despite competition from the likes of Simon Tabron, Steve McCann and Chad Kagy, the 39-year-old State College, Pa., resident (by way of Derby, England) has remained in the No. 1 position at almost every vert contest he's entered in recent years. And no one in BMX sees that position changing anytime soon. Chalk it up to his riding: Bestwick possesses the rare ability to boost high and land smooth between stretched, highly stylized variations of tailwhips, flairs, 540s and any other vert trick one could think of.
