MacNeil BMXMacNeil's Deuce Deuce, now in its fourth incarnation, is aimed at the taller rider.

If you're tall and like to ride BMX, you don't have many options these days. Most trail frames max out at around 21.5" top tubes, and rear end lengths, by and large, have continued to shrink over the past decade. So what's a person over six-feet tall and looking for some extra leg room to do? Luckily, MacNeil BMX has had that area covered for a good few years now. Enter the Deuce Deuce.

MacNeil BMXThe Deuce Deuce's longer 22" top tube size is complimented by a longer 14.25" rear end length.

WHAT IT IS:
The MacNeil Deuce Deuce is perhaps one of the only frames on the BMX market aimed specifically at tall (er) riders. Designed for park, street and trail use but suitable for anything, the Deuce Deuce features a whopping 22" top tube length with a corresponding rear end length that measures in at 14.25". Constructed of 4130 Sanko chromoly, features include a heat-treated integrated headtube drilled for gyro tabs, external downtube gusset, integrated seatpost clamp, heat-treated Spanish B/B shell, wishbone style chainstay junction, seatstay located removable brake mounts with custom engraved seatstay bridge, extra wide rear end to accept large tire sizes and 4mm thick heat-treated dropouts. Geometry includes a 74.5 degree head tube and a 71 degree seat tube angle. Bottom bracket height measures in at 11.7", and the overall weight of the frame is just 4.9 lbs. Colors include matte raw and matte black.

MacNeil BMXFeatures include a reinforced seat stay junction and an integrated seat clamp.

WHY IT RULES:
Those of us under the six-foot range might find the Deuce Deuce frame to be huge, but the fact that MacNeil is one of the few BMX brands to look out for the taller rider is commendable in and of itself. Above and beyond that fact, the Deuce Deuce is strong, lightweight and proportioned correctly for the tall rider. It's not one of those frames with a long top tube and a short rear end length that causes the rider to loop out -- it's long up front and in the rear. Maybe MacNeil isn't laughing all the way to the bank with the Deuce Deuce, but it is really cool of them to continue manufacturing a frame that they understand is only suitable for the taller BMX riders out there.

WHERE TO FIND IT:
The Deuce Deuce is available via Empire BMX, Albe's and Dan's Comp. If you're seeking a local dealer, check with your nearest MacNeil distributor via the distro list on the MacNeil site.
