Surfer drowns in Deal, N.J.
The body of a drowned surfer in Deal, N.J. was identified as Kevin John McGarry, 42, of nearby Ocean Township on Wednesday afternoon.
Sadly, McGarry was found face down wearing his leash, near the jetty at Whitehall Ave. when police responded to a 911 call late in the afternoon.
Police Captain Earl Alexander, Sgt. James Ammaturo, Patrolman Brad Kerney and firefighter Robert Simmen went into the water to retrieve him, but once back on the beach, could not revive him.
