When you're reporting on something like an athletes major injury for one of the largest sports news websites (ESPN), you need to be sure that all your facts are straight -- confirming details directly from the source, or else you can really stir up some controversy based on speculation So, it's been confirmed that Mat Rebeaud indeed took a big digger at the Wyvern FMX playground, formerly known as the Red Bull Compound. Mat was flown to Valencia Hospital, where it was found out that he had suffered a broken arm and punctured lung. The doc's were able to sort everything out with a surgery and now Mat is beginning the healing process.

Todd StewartMat's always been a smooth rider without suffering many major crashes, but this is FMX and unfortunately things do happen. Well, at least he has a nice little vacation now, right?

According to Mat's manager, Russ Stratton, Mat's feeling better ever day and he's in great spirits. And get this ... he's hoping to be ready for the Egypt round of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour, which goes down on May 14. Mat is currently seeing a specialist to find out when he'll be able to fly back to his home country of Switzerland. Heal up quick Mat, Red Bull X-Fighters just won't be the same without you! Oh, and you can heck out matrebeaud.com to keep up on his progress.

No, for the unconfirmed, let's talk Robbie Maddison. Now, this is just speculation, but rumor has it that Maddo will be jumping the Corinth Canal in Greece on April 8th. This first popped up when Maddo mentioned it on his Twitter, via his Facebook page. In an effort to confirm this insanity, I called both Maddo and his wife Amy, but was unable to get through. So, I figured that this jump had to be associated with Red Bull since they've supported every jump up until now, but from what I gather, this jump may have absolutely nothing to do with Red Bull. I talked to my source at Red Bull US and he said that he knows that Maddo will be jumping the Corinth Canal, but he doesn't know any details about it.

Greece MonkeyUh ... really Maddo? He's claiming this will be the biggest jump of his life and if you've followed any of his jumps, then you know that this will be absolutely bonkers.

So, if he plans on jumping this thing on April 8th, why is he keeping it so quiet? Could it be that he's going in full guerilla style and basically poaching it? Why there would be no official press release about it is beside me, but rest assured that we'll stay on the case, bringing you any news, pictures and videos we can possibly get our hands on. Ok, that's enough speculation for now. Oh, did you hear that Nate Adams got signed by Def Jam? Okay, now I'm just blowing smoke ...
