SkullcandyThe Skullcandy Mix Master is one of the sleekest looking headphones on the market. You may be asking yourself what Mix Master Mike and motocross have in common? Well, long-time Beastie Boys DJ Mix Master Mike has teamed up with headphone giant Skullcandy to produce a high-end headphone ala Dr. Dre's Dre Beats. And seeing that Skullcandy is heavily invested in the sport of motocross, you'll undoubtedly be seeing your favorite pros rocking the Mix Master headphone in the pits once they hit the shelves -- and that's where the dots connect.
WHAT IT IS:
If there's one thing I take seriously, maybe too serious at times, it's my music. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find me walking around without a pair of headphones either on my dome piece or hanging around my neck. Always a fan of Skullcandy headphones, I was more than excited when I caught wind of the new Mix Master headphone.
Slated as a high-end DJ headphone, the Mix Master utilizes the sleek over-the-ear frame structure with more features than most comparable high-end headphones, including a one click mute button, ambidextrous cable inputs, interchangeable cables with mic for talking on the phone and "Encore" ear pads, which are basically memory foam ear pillows. All of this is encompassed in a shiny black frame made of polycarbonate, ABS, stainless steel and aluminum, ensuring strength and durability.
WHY IT RULES:
SkullcandyThe Mix Master folds up for easy, hassle-free storage. Booyah!
Sound quality and fit. Plain and simple, the Mix Master headphone not only bangs in the sound department with balanced lows, mids and highs, but it's one of the most comfortable headphones on the market. With so many headphone manufacturers trying to duplicate Skullcandy by making wildly stylish headphones, it's easy to pick a pair of headphones based purely off looks and not sound quality. But if you take your music listening experience seriously, do yourself a favor and spend that little extra amount of cheddar to cop a high-end headphone like the Skullcandy Mix Master ... trust us, your ears will thank you.
WHERE TO FIND IT:
With only sample models of the Mix Master given to a chosen few industry tastemakers, they're still unavailable to the public, but will be hitting the shelves sometime in September. So, when they do drop, the best place to cop them would be directly through Skullcandy's online store. Tell them Mix Master Mike sent you.
