21 year-old Metal Mulisha rider Jimmy Hill broke both his wrists yesterday while training at the Metal Mulisha Compound in Temecula, Calif. After missing a grab on a Superman seatgrab backflip attempt, Hill disconnected from his bike mid-air and landed hand's first into the hard dirt below. "That trick is super-deceiving," Hill tells ESPN. "Once you get comfortable and think you have it down, it comes back to bite you." The exact extent of his injury has been confirmed by doctors to be a broken navicular bone in both his left and right wrists. He will go in for surgery this Friday.

A product of the amateur FMX circuit, Hill was discovered by Metal Mulisha founder Brian Deegan after placing an impressive second place at the very first AFMXA am contest in Pala, Calif. in 2009. Since then, Hill has been performing at numerous Metal Mulisha demos and has been turning heads with the rate of his trick progression.

ESPN FMX filmed with Hill just one-week before the unfortunate accident, and he was absolutely killing it. Check out video from that shoot above.
