Pastrana racing to help end poverty

Red BullTravis Pastrana will be challenging his rally skills on Africa's most-treacherous terrain come November.

Pastrana, who is already a rally champion in America, has entered the Race4Change East African Safari Classic Rally, which is dubbed as one of the toughest rallies in the world. "I could not be more excited to come over and participate in such an awesome charity event," said Pastrana.

Taking place on Africa's wildest terrain, the East African Safari Classic spans over 5000 kilometers through Kenya, Uganda and Tarzana, and lasts a grueling ten days. But as Pastrana knows, the "world's toughest rally race" is nothing compared to what the world's most impoverished people have to deal with daily.

"Having been fortunate enough to travel to far off places, I've seen poverty firsthand and am glad to be able to lend a hand in the crusade to end it. What I do is sometimes considered dangerous, but let me tell you that there is nothing more dangerous to an individual, a country, or our world than poverty."

The 2011 East African Safari Classic runs from November 19-28.
