One small step for man named Jon, one giant leap for freeskiing mankind.

Jon Olsson won his first NorAm Cup giant slalom race yesterday in Panorama, B.C., then wrote a blog post under the headline: "12.4 points! F--- YEAH!"

jon-olsson.comJon Olsson won his first NorAm Cup race yesterday in B.C.

Jon has good reason to be stoked—with the win and his ever-shrinking (a good thing) FIS points. (Panorama results here.) Quite the handy switch trick too considering Jon's racing fortunes two weeks ago when ESPN Freeskiing caught up with him at the opening NorAm stop in Aspen (see Jon Olsson, Skier Racer »).

Hits are contagious. So are errors. So are some of the highlights from Jon's exuberant blog recap:

• "I think a video blog would've done my feelings more justice, it's hard to get it all out here, but I can't say anything else [other] than that I rank this win among the top 10 biggest things in my ski career. Winning an FIS race is one thing, but winning a NorAm is not the easiest thing!"

• "I'm going to go celebrate with a beer and a burger. Feels weird to not have all my Freestyle boys to celebrate with and make the town unsafe, but I guess I should stay on the mellow side as I am going to forerun the women's race tomorrow to get some more training. Even though I won I still have so much to learn!"
