When Mark Lasseter from SouthAmericaSki.com says it's dumping down here, get on the next bus and head to wherever he is. Right now, he's at the Patagonia ski resort of Cerro Catedrial in Bariloche, Argentina, which is getting absolutely hammered.

On our first day, we had epic conditions, with several meters of new snow dropping over the last few days. Large, fluffy snowflakes are drenching Bariloche's moss-covered forests. Many of the lifts are literally buried in snow. (See photo at right).

As the resort is slowing digging itself out, we explored South America's largest ski resort and its immense backcountry filled with rock spires, endless couloirs and AK-like mountainous backdrops.
