The lore of American pastimes are usually enriched by the "bigger is better" theme of sports. We Americans love monumental home runs, dynasty franchises, mammoth sized athletes and in skiing, sprawling ski epicenters with lifts as far as the eye can see. Yet despite our collective obsession with all things big, the relatively diminutive Alta Ski Resort in Utah has maintained a legendary status in skiing for nearly a half a century.

Now moving into two-week airing intervals, Salomon Freeski TV's 8th episode submerges itself into the Alta mystique -- and its overhead blower pow. Despite being dwarfed by its neighbor, Snowbird, not to mention most of the other areas throughout Utah, Alta holds something special in the traditions of skiing. Leo Ahrens, a prodigious skier who grew up in the tiny community of Alta, counts the influences of the generation.
