Christian PondellaTaxis, donkeys, and crevasses: Welcome to skiing in Bolivia. Launch Gallery »

The mission: Three skiers looking for adventure in the Cordillera Real Mountains of Bolivia. The starting point: La Paz, the highest metropolitan city in the world. The challenges: navigating local culture, bad chicken, and climbing 6,000 meter peaks in hopes of finding something decent to ski. This is a gallery of images from a trip last spring taken by photographer Christian Pondella and skiers Dave Rosenbarger and Giulia Monego. The full story on their trip appears in a recent issue of Powder Magazine.
