Beyoncé On Skis

The most exciting moment of the WSI Big Air for me, personally.

A few weeks ago, after the WSI Big Air, I was sitting in a Whistler hotel room with a few friends, associates, and competitors. As we relived the excitement of the night's event and basked in each other's camaraderie, I spotted Beyoncé's "Ring The Alarm" EP out of the corner of my eye. Initially I thought I was looking at a photograph of Beyoncé on skis, or posing in some snow bunny get-up, at least. Then my eyes focused a little better on the album art, and I thought maybe she was exercising on a Skier's Edge workout machine.

Album art from Beyoncé's "Ring The Alarm" EP. It makes me think of skiing for some reason.

That excited me, as the thought of large-scale celebrities on skis always does. Once my eyes completely focused on the photograph, however, and my brain properly interpreted it, I realized with dismay that there wasn't much to do with skiing there at all. What I thought were ski poles were actually taut leashes. What I thought was a skiing stance was actually a classic Beyoncé show-them-the-goods-and-the-attitude-uh-huh-uh-huh pose. And there were alligators. And that — you know, pop music, bare skin, and dangerous wild animals together in one place — is cool. Really cool. But cooler than skiing?

Which do you think is cooler?
