Last time I posted one of these, it turned into a crisis. You'd probably think that something like the teaser for a ski video would be the last thing in the world to provoke acrimony, but who knows? Either way, I'll try to do this one right.
Phil Casabon. The latest in a long line of expert freestyle skiers named Phil.
Montreal, or the vicinity thereof, has been a driving influence throughout the history and development of modern freestyle skiing. From JP Auclair to the Three Phils to Charles Gagnier, Montreal has produced a steady stream of stars for the sport. And, being a region that is both progressive enough to regard inline skating as a fun, socially acceptable leisure activity, and cold enough to have snow on the ground for months at a time, Montreal has always been a, if not the world headquarters for city type skiing. You know, stunt skiing down handrails and the like.
Today, nothing's changed. Montreal's still cranking out excellent park skiers named Phil, and awe-inspring videos of risky, aggressive, city-bound skiing. The city's latest offering of the latter, The Affiliates, from ESK Media, features Phil Casabon, Montreal's latest offering of the former, along with a host of other rail-taming Quebeckers. The Affiliates was named "Best Amateur Film" at Montreal's own International Freeskiing Film Festival.
Check out the teaser for the award-winning amateur film that is sure to be a danger-flouting, parkour-inspired thrill ride through the icy streets of the North American region in which Last Of The Mohicans was setall with skis attached. The Affiliates, from ESK Media
