First Up: Pipa de la Fiesta

Held annually in Mammoth Lakes, Ca., the West Coast Invitational is the largest snowboard event of the spring season. It's an end-of-year celebration that focuses less on actual competition (everything is rider judged) and more on, well, having a good time. The first portion of the WCI—the Pipa de la Fiesta—was meant to take place on Friday, but was pushed back to Saturday due to rain and 60 mph gusts. Mammoth park director Oren Tanzer gave riders direction: "Okay, so, all you have to do is ride and have the wind and rain. For $10,000." Wyatt Caldwell, left, and Greg Bretz, right, did just that. Bretz finished second and took home $3,000. (Peter Morning )
