Brian Deegan joins Ford Racing
FMX legend to pilot an Olsberg MSE Ford Fiesta in the Global RallyCross Championship
Brian Deegan is a double threat in action sports, having competed in every X Games since 1995 as a Moto X athlete before expanding into rally racing two years ago. Today, Deegan announced that he will be representing Ford Racing in all of his future automotive pursuits, including the brand-new Global RallyCross Championship series that is currently underway.
"When I had the chance to try rally at X Games, I was excited because it's a new challenge and a new opportunity," said Deegan in an interview with ESPN.com. "After seeing how I did last year with half a day of testing, I know I have what it takes to win [on the Global RallyCross series]."
Deegan will drive his Ford Rockstar Metal Mulisha Fiesta at the final stop of the Global RallyCross Championship in Pike's Peak, Colo., and also during the rally events at X Games 17. He will drive a Ford Raptor in short-course Pro 2 races on the Lucas Oil Off Road Series.
Though Deegan has previously raced Fords, the newly-inked deal spans a number of different events and disciplines. For Deegan, it represents a new challenge, and he is looking forward to his first Global RallyCross race.
"It's one thing for Americans to come out and do RallyCross, but when the Europeans come over, it's going to be really serious," he said. "I watch how they set up for corners, they're very precise, and they don't make mistakes, and the more of them that come over, with these serious cars, the tougher it will get."
