You can take the red pill or the blue pill...choose reality or fantasy.

RIDE
The RIDE high-tech carpet deck...pretty cool.
Tony Hawk's newest videogame, RIDE, is set to hit stores on November 17th. Check it out here. The virtual skate game is one of the first to use a mock shred sled as your controller. You can step aboard, simulate popping ollies and learn tricks on the skateboard-shaped piece of tech machinery with manuevers reminiscent of carpet-boarding.
The game even features the éS Game of Skate as a level, which reminded me that the real éS Game of Skate is coming up on November 14th. Pros and ams, along with locals that competed in their home towns and qualified, will all be whipping out their damnedest moves.
So, while the RIDE videogame looks awesome, the juxtaposition of the real éS Game of Skate and the virtual one conjure up the image of Neo choosing between the red and the blue pill...choosing between weeks of real skateboarding and weeks of instantly gratifying faux exercise (although, RIDE seems much healthier than the traditional joystick games).
The éS Game of SKATE cameo.
Children will be lining up for RIDE and will no-doubt start pivoting on their fake boards some time around mid November, but remember, there's the option to get out and learn real skateboarding. If the pill you choose is the reality pill, check in to the éS Game of Skate for more on their Tricktionary. They gave skateboarders a chance to land flatground tricks at their qualifying games of SKATE. Then, éS will choose the cleanest version of the trick and put it up for you to see the footwork fundamentals. If you're not wholly consumed by RIDE, you can go out and give real skateboarding a chance...balance kids, that's the key.
