Marc Owens"I don't believe in breaks. That's how you get soft and lazy. The only time I get a break is when I literally cannot skateboard," says Duffel.Countless broken bones, in and out of emergency rooms, surgery after surgery, phyiscal rehab after physical rehab -- and the Duffman still shines. Corey Duffel is a living legend and his skating always backs up the people in doubt. In the following interview, Corey discusses where he's been and where he's headed. The Duffman says a lot of things.
ESPN.com: What's up Corey? What's new up in Duffeland these days?
Duffel: The name has legally been changed back to Walnut Creek. Not much new around these parts. some rippers are popping up like Matty Hunt and Daniel Dubois. Both are dudes you'll be seeing soon.
How many injuries and set backs occurred filming for "WTF!"?
I had three different surgeries and I think those messed things up the most. Each surgery was about a four month recovery. My foot never healed up actually. The surgery on my left foot was to remove a neuroma and it only made my foot pain worse. It still hurts to walk. Breaking my collarbone was no fun either. I tore my meniscus about two years ago and that was before we started working on a video, but it still caused problems for me. I didn't really have any footage stacking up because I was hurt up until the beginning of making "WTF!"
Have you taken a break since "WTF!" came out to give yourself some time to heal properly?
I don't believe in breaks. That's how you get soft and lazy. The only time I get a break is when I literally cannot skateboard.
When will your next video project come out?
Osiris shoes has a video and it's supposed to be out by summer.
Who's looking good for the Osiris video?
Caswell [Berry] is one hell of a ripper so he's looking good right now. Caswell always has the best stuff. Lee Yankou is on a serious killing spree right now. He has more pop and determination than anybody else I know. Lee rules! He has so much heart and has the best outlook on life. J.T. Aultz and Jamie Palmore will have killer parts too! Taylor Bingaman is amazing and all the footage I've seen of his is insane! Everyone except myself will have amazing parts!

Does the Osiris video have a title yet?
"Till the wheels fall off." Thats what I hear. But I don't think it's set in stone.
Who's the best Foundation rider to travel and kick it with?
I like everybody on the team. They wouldn't be on Foundation if I didn't like them or want to travel with them. I'm stoked on all the current team riders. I'm sure I'm the one dude they don't wanna travel with.
Name three things Marquis [Preston] has stolen from you?
That's all in the past. I'd say he was creeping on the come up. I can't blame a man for wanting free stuff.
If you were to go to Marquis's house what are three things you might think about stealing from him?
Well, if he had a good record player, I'd take that. I would for sure take his guitar and his bicycle -- that way he can't get hit by another car while riding again.
How many bones have you broken since you started skateboarding?
I gave up on counting or thinking about that. Skateboarding is my greatest curse.
How many of those were in the last year?
Only four. It was my foot twice and my shoulder twice.
When did you notice the biggest change from 'Lanky Duffel to 'Buff Duff'?
Pretty much when I broke my ankle is 2007. I was on crutches for four months. Crutches are quite the work out and I didn't want to sit at home do nothing, so I'd go out and adventure. I also got a gym membership at the time too and started pumping some iron. I'm still pretty lanky, I can't seem to gain weight.
Dan ZaslavskyStreet ollie at speed.Name one person you should follow on Instagram.
Myself, duh! high_speed_death
What are three things you never thought you would be doing as a professional skateboarder?
Being concerned that skateboarding is getting taken over by the Internet. Filming an online part at a skatepark. Starting my own company with my friend Jamie called BLKLTD.
Do you have any words of wisdom?
Dictate your own destiny.
