Tim O'Connor is about as Jersey as it gets.

I think we can all agree that not only is New Jersey the greatest place on earth but it is also the center of skateboarding's universe. Aside from all the great pro and amateur skaters New Jersey has produced directly, indirectly every pro and industry guy has a six-degree of Kevin Bacon from New Jersey. Don't believe me? Read on.

Not much news about a bunch of people getting drunk, but whenever Chico Brenes does something, it's smooth as always, not least the release of a new shoe on DVS. Last weekend, Brenes' friends came out to celebrate the roll-out of his new shoe with a load of free Tecate at the Silverlake divebar, the Cha Cha Lounge. Check the pictures below.

Nike Bonus Debacle #2

Like Christmas or a birthday...

November 21, 2009, 4:59 PM

Nike

Chances are that this was filmed somewhere in Chile and that makes me stoked.

There's something to be said for Occam's Razor when it comes to skate videos. That's not to say that all videos must be whittled down to the most short and slim version, but when there's nothing else to say and you just put in stuff because you can't figure out what to cut, it waters down all the rest. So, with that in mind, everything in Nike's am video, "Debacle," hit the mark in "short and sweet"-ness. What's left seems to have been separated out into more than one bonus section of clips. The first bonus came out not too long ago and now they've released the second bonus. Take a look and enjoy the benefits of tight editing, which allow us these sporadic bonus presents.

McCrank Couched and Channeled

From "Revolution" until today, he's still ripping.

Crailtap

Tucking in a sweet stalefish after Robbie Russo warms Channel St. up. See the video.

Rick McCrank, the clean, Canadian, vegetarian, father and unexplicably skilled skateboarder, had a sweet part in the video "Revolution" during the second incarnation of Plan B, but really made a big name for himself with the opener in Birdhouse skateboard's "The End." He really hasn't stopped since (see Menikmati, "Yeah Right!" after his switch over to Girl Skateboards in 1998, skating at Tampa Pro '07, his "AntiSocial" video part, his part in the often overlooked "éSpecial" video and a lot more that you'll just have to look up or buy to see). Hear McCrank talk on the Crail Couch about first getting on Girl, Mike

Skater Richie Jackson Arrested at Gunpoint

Footplants to sleep illegal.

November 23, 2009, 3:25 PM

The Daily Telegraph

A rather relaxed and sleepy arrest. Richie Jackson submits to gun-wielding officers in Sydney, Australia.

60s/70s timepiece and Australia's über-creative pole-jamming master, Richie Jackson was arrested this Saturday, Nov. 21st, as reported by the article in The Daily Telegraph, by more than 12 armed police officers in five cars, responding to an alarm at the Sydney Grammer school in Sydney, Australia.

When the officers searched the grounds, they found Jackson inside the gates of the school, with skateboard in hand. In the ensuing chase, Jackson tried to escape by scaling the fence to the school, but the officers were able to corner him at gunpoint.

Once in custody, on his way to the paddy-wagon, Jackson said he was looking for somewhere to sleep and explained, "I figured it would be better to sleep in there than in the park."

BATB 2 Comes to an End

I don't want to give it away, but the winner has an O in his name.

November 22, 2009, 2:42 PM

By: Josh Brooks

If you're a Berrics fanatic, you know who won, but I just don't want to ruin it for everyone else.

The Battle at the Berrics 2 came to a close this weekend with a nail-biter of an ender. If you're a loyal Berrican, you held on with bated breath to see the final after two days. If you've concerned yourself with something else instead of visiting The Berrics every ten minutes, then here's what you missed: Redemption Round Bracket A, Redemption Round Bracket B, Redemption Finals between Greg Lutzka and Jimmy Carlin (which also included the forced dismissal of Boosh after he screamed "K-Swiss" as Lutzka was trying a trick), P-Rod vs. Cory Kennedy,

Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins first woman to land McTwist

Skate history made in Paris.

November 22, 2009, 2:06 PM

By: Josh Brooks

Lyn-Z Hawkins in the middle of the first 540 landed by a woman. Pretty amazing.

In a skate, art and music event held in Paris' historic Grand Palais, built for the 1900 Paris Expedition, Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins made her own history as the first female to land a McTwist on a skateboard. Watch it here.

The event, entitled the Quiksilver Tony Hawk Show, featured photography from Bára Prásilová, live painting by André, music by Dead By Sunrise, DJing with Mix Master Mike and, of course, skating.

To close up the skate event, after Tony Hawk landed another highly-

Rollin' With Sean Malto

A auditory stroll through downtown Kansas City.

Etnies

Malto chilling in all of the skateable landscapes of downtown KC.

When I hear people doubt the abilities of skaters in the middle of the country, I get bummed. I grew up in the Midwest, after all. But, with harsh winters, rough spots and humid summers, sometimes I'm led to ask myself how someone like Malto, for example, or Davis Torgerson, got so damn good. I doubt anyone will ever know for sure why, but taking a look at what they grew up skating is a good way. In that case, watching Sean Malto roll through his hometown helps explain it a little bit. Take a look at Etnie's Rollin' with Sean Malto.

Cory Kennedy's 'Merlin Twist' Video Interview

A wizard reveals the secrets of tech...sort of.

November 20, 2009, 12:55 PM

By: Chris Nieratko

This kid is a wizard.

With everyone talking about Cory Kennedy's almost-landed super trick (which he's dubbed, the Merlin Twist), I got Cory on the phone to explain the maneuver for less technical thinking skateboarders. In his own words: "Your back foot is in the switch bigspin position. And you put your front foot pretty much on the nose. Then just scoop it really hard. Then, I don't know, dip your front foot down to whip the board around and then kinda hope you land it (laughs). I'm not very good at explaining."

Well, that doesn't tell us much. Click below to watch the video and listen to Cory talk about the trick a little more in depth and his Battle at the Berrics experience. Special thanks to Mike Martinez from Inner Space Skatepark for the footage.
