Today...how can I fully describe you? Amazing, maybe? Epic? Weird? Those all apply. Skate Street finals went down with P-Rod landing switch kickflips and switch heels, praying into his hat and having a "Today Was a Good Day" kind of day. Nyjah Huston Rasta skanked into the second slot with his always consistent kickflip 5-0s, kickflip front-boards, kickflip backlips and on and on. Jah! Then, Adam Dyet sprinkled a little bit of his party in the stands, flinging nollie cabs down the 12 and kickflip back-lipping and nollie back-lipping the double-set rail while proclaiming his love for skateboarding and exuding his personality of weird awesomeness. Ryan Sheckler rolled his ankle and seemed really roughed up, but he's a champ. I'm sure he'll heal up. Maybe put some Axe on it, right?
Seriously, though, the Park eliminations showed just how fun that event was destined to be. Rune was back Smithing over the capsule and qualified first with Omar Hassan heelflip indy grabbing into second. Andy Mac? Third. Yep, that's right. Yeah, he may not be the most stylish, but he's good at skateboard tricking. The other qualifiers for tomorrow that stood out were Chad "Way too underrated" Bartie, the wildcard: Tony Trujillo and Bacon's Kevin Kowalski. There are too many. Choose one and then root for him like a horse.
Lastly, vert proved that vert's still pretty fun to watch. People still show up for it (I was not aware of this, despite being here last year) and it's rad to watch in person. Perelson had the same style I always enjoy watching, even though he didn't fair too well. The winners were PLG, Bucky and Mac. All were well deserved, but sadly, I think Bob got robbed again missing the podium by a hair. circle.
Tomorrow's easier for you and me, skate-wise, with park and park legends, which will probably be the funnest events. Check in fools!
