This past weekend Brooklyn's Autumn Bowl hosted its first full-on contest. Seems since transition wizard Brent Atchley was going to be in town, his buddies Chopper Dave, the head honcho behind Element's Times Square store and Dakine's skate Team Manager, Scotty Koerner convinced Brent to be the namesake of the contest. With Dakine as title sponsor and product donations coming in from Element, Autumn skate shop, Prize Fighter Cutlery wheels and Asahi beverages, September 27th found the bowl packed with rippers and fans.

The man whose name was on the flier: Brent Atchley with a casual front rock in the midst of chaos.

Along with many underground rippers from Brooklyn and the surrounding area who regularly show up at the bowl, this event brought a few heavy hitters out of the woodwork to join in on the session, partake of the festivities and try for a shot at some cold hard cash. Some of the bigger names in attendance were: Brent Atchley (obviously), Bay Area beast Andrew Langi, Fiveboro's Willy Akers, Dan Pensyl and founder Steve Rodriguez, One in a Million Curtis Rapp, Billy Rohan, Coda's Pat Smith and Connor Fay, Substance's Phil "Skinny Ladjanski and Rob Campbell, Consolidated's Kyle Berard and a slew of others.

Chopper Dave ran the mic and helped run the show, keeping it classy all day long.

Some highlights from all the skating that went down included Kyle Berard's ATV ripping, random homie, Ian (who once lived in goat shed: true story) spinning nollie 360s on the furnace wallride, Willy Akers terrorizing back tails on a severely rolled ankle, Andrew Langi doing nosegrind pop ins, frontside flips and head high madonnas in the bowl's 7-foot deep end, Pat Smith's never-ending lines and ridiculous corner pocket lipslides and Brent's casual frontside ollies that always float way longer than anyone else's.

In the end, Langi and Berard took home the bulk of the cash for their overall ripping but the prize money certainly seemed like the last thing on most people's minds; everyone was too busy having a good time.
