This being Crockett's last Fallen ad is the only certainty.
Gilbert Crockett'smove to Alien Workshop a few weeks back was quite a surprise to a lot of people and would have been to me, as well, if I didn't happen to see him out riding Alien Workshop boards. I like Crockett, though, so I didn't sprint home and post it upit wasn't final. And, he hadn't officially left Fallen, yet, so I waited the shoe sponsor speculation out before exposing too much (is it odd that we concern ourselves with these things? Just an existential question, since this is my job after all). But, that board sponsorship change is a done deal (as Dill said, they voted him on after skating with him down in Virginia).
But, with his last Fallen ad lingering in the mags, he was finally removed from their site, opening up all speculation about where his feet would end up next. I know he's looking at certain sponsors, including Vans or éS (even Cliff knows about éS). Whether there are any other offers on the table, don't know.
But, when I caught up with him today, taking shelter from the Virginia rain, he was discreet. "I'm just back in Virginia, trying to sort things out. I honestly can't say just yet, because it's still up in the air where I might be going," he said. Both options are still on the table, he said, but only good things lie ahead for Crockett. In the mean time, you can sit inside and speculate or watch his "Doin' Thangs" part, get stoked and go out and skate.
