PETA
Hannah Teter has joined PETA in the fight to protect baby seals.
A few months back we saw Tara Dakides join Peta2 in the fight against the use of animal fur in the name of fashion.
In PETA's latest global campaign, which seeks to put an end to seal killings in Canada, it's Hannah Teter as the acting snowboard ambassador for animal rights. Teter joins a long list of others to publicly speak out against commercial seal hunting, in which every year thousands of seals are bludgeoned to death or shot for their fur. That list includes Pam Anderson, Kelly Osbourne, Steve-O of Jackass, blogger Perez Hilton, Twilight dude Christian Serratos, Playboy playmates Holly Madison and Jayde Nicole, and a string of others.
To get a better sense of where Teter stands on the issue, have a look at this interview she did for PETA.
The commercial seal business is no new controversy. In 2006, Barack Obama spoke out against seal hunting -- at the time a senator for Illinois -- the same year that singer Morrissey banned his tour from Canada in protest of the practice. In May 2009 both the European Union and the U.S. banned seal products.
