The final weekend up at Mt. Baker felt like a whole winter crammed into three days. Friday was bluebird with powder -- we're talking mid-winter whiterooms. Saturday saw the first real slushy day of the spring, with even more sun, and slush.
Some party people showed up costumed. Raggedy Ann and Andy were there. So were Yoda and Darth Vader. There was also a lizard, a lobster and one dude wearing what looked like chaps made from a million beanie babies. I believe there were veggie burritos for sale in the lot. I know there were gypsies and at least two Sheriffs. The woods around Glacier were wild that night.
An approaching storm stayed at bay until the afternoon on Sunday, but the rain came just before it was over. By last chair it was pouring, so we drank around a soggy fire in front of the lodge and said goodbye to the season in style. It seemed just right. We soaked it up.
