Shaun White debuts Home line at Target

Shaun White's newest collaboration with Target, the Shaun White Home collection, hits stores for a limited time December 26. The collection, which was co-designed by White's older brother Jesse White, features a variety of items to decorate kids' rooms, including curtains, bedding and lamps. The White brothers got their first crack at interior design while designing a living room for Target House at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
"It is really inspired by what we wanted when we were young," explained Jesse White. "Growing up, there weren't many options besides sheets with trains or baseballs on them, so what we were hoping to do was create something new and different: cool and stylish, but also fun... Overall, it's not just about drawing skateboards and snowboards -- it's about taking inspiration from the world around us and incorporating it into the line. We hope it appeals to everyone who is inspired by what Shaun does."
At 25, Shaun White has already owned three homes. In a recent interview with The New York Times, White explained the importance of kids being able to design their own bedrooms: "I thought it was cool to do this, because I remember what it was like having my space, doing whatever I wanted, and it meant so much to me. As a kid, you're not allowed to do much -- you got to dress and look cool and feel cool, and your room reflects the same thing. You spend a lot of time there when you're younger."
"We try to do things a little differently," said Jesse White of the duo's design work on the Home line. "We are really trying to push the designs and our point of view. We always want to maintain the authenticity of where we come from and push the Target guest to be excited about the collection. We want them to look at the sheets and smile and laugh, and also leave them saying, 'I don't know why I like it, but I do.'"
From curtains and (reversible) bedding sets featuring the now-famous blue monster to skull piggy banks to wall decals, the limited-time-only collection is now available in stores and online through June 2012.
