Quik brings King of Aviones to Northwest PR Halloween weekend.

If you live anywhere on the East Coast, chances are you've heard of Florida's marquis event, the Quiksilver King of the Peak, held at a little World Champion training ground known as Sebastian Inlet.
Well now like the conquistador's that they are, Quik are delving into the Caribbean to bring the first ever King of Aviones
to Puerto Rico. I have already heard some rumblings of early season swell from the Enchanted Isle.
Now I have no doubt that heavies from Domes to Chatara will have their claws out for the Halloween-themed event, but what gives with the name?
King of Aviones? Aviones is a classic Northwest coast spot that always has some kind of wave. It's a logical pick, but wouldn't it be called El Rey de Aviones? Maybe because it literally translates to King of the Planes and it's not an air show? And I guess they couldn't have it down the road because who wants to be King of the Jobos?
Never mind.
The news here for the Puerto Rican rippers is that Quik is putting up $3,000 in skins for the highest scoring waves. Being that this goes down Halloween weekend, there will also be some cash for best costumes. Can't wait to see the photos of that. Carlos Cabrero already told me has the coolest Napoleon Dynomite get up.
So, who's going to take it a former Masters champ like Juan Ashton? Darren Muschette
is on a roll after winning the Corona Extra. But then again, Brian Toth
is about the toughest surfer to come out of Puerto Rico. How about gringo Jason Reagan? Will Josie Graves upend brother Dylan?
